Role Summary
The HSE Manager is responsible for leading GS Construction’s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Program across all divisions. This includes ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and client requirements while fostering a proactive safety culture. The HSE Manager plays a vital role in collaborating with division managers and field teams to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
You will be responsible for the following:
- Leading the development and implementation of GS Construction’s HSE Program, ensuring alignment with regulatory and client standards.
- Collaborating with field teams to implement safety protocols tailored to underground operations, including confined space entry and trenching.
- Conducting safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations to identify root causes and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Manage all aspects of injury management, including incident reporting, Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) claims, and modified work programs, ensuring timely follow-up and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Managing safety registries (ISNetworld, Avetta, ComplyWorks, etc.) and maintaining organized, up-to-date HSE documentation.
- Coordinating and delivering safety training programs, including specialized hazard identification and mitigation for underground work.
- Representing GS Construction in discussions with clients and regulatory bodies on HSE compliance and improvements.
- Evaluating subcontractor safety programs and conducting joint safety meetings to ensure alignment with company standards.
Qualifications
- NCSO designation as a minimum requirement.
- 5 years' experience in safety program management, particularly in the civil construction industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Valid Driver’s License.
