Role Summary
The Trucking Foreman is a strong leader responsible for managing GS Construction’s trucking operations. This role involves leading a team of drivers, ensuring efficiency and safety, and fostering strong relationships with contractors and team members. With a focus on operational excellence, the Trucking Foreman plays a vital role in supporting the success of our construction projects.
You will be responsible for the following:
- Coordinating and managing a comprehensive truck maintenance schedule to minimize downtime.
- Conducting routine truck inspections and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Utilizing technology to streamline operations, including vehicle tracking, reporting, and invoicing, with tools such as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel), Spectrum, and BTW.
- Monitoring and managing dump sites and dry yard activities to ensure efficient and safe operations.
- Building strong relationships with contractors and acting as the point of contact for trucking services.
- Providing leadership and direction for a team of 13 drivers, including performance management, training, and scheduling.
- Collaborating with the HSE team to implement and oversee safety protocols, conducting regular inspections and audits.
- Analyzing and optimizing trucking routes to improve delivery times and reduce costs.
- Filling in as a driver to address gaps caused by unexpected circumstances, such as driver illness or emergencies.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership role managing drivers or similar teams, preferably in a water and sewer or construction environment.
- Class 3 Driver’s License (Class 1 preferred).
- Familiarity with fleet management software and tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, Spectrum, and BTW.
