Safety Underground, Excellence Above
GS Construction understands that a positive Safety Culture in the workplace is a vital part of a successful and effective safety program. We have built a culture in which safety is a priority and everyone is committed to protecting themselves and their colleagues from harm.
GS Construction promotes safe practices by:
Providing comprehensive safety orientations for new employees
Conducting regular safety meetings and hazard assessments
Holding ongoing training sessions in areas such as First Aid, CSTS, WHIMIS, Confined Space Awareness, and Safe Trenching & Excavation
Health & Safety Policy
GS Construction is committed to safety on and off the worksite. This includes protecting people, equipment, materials and the environment from loss caused by injuries or accidents. GS complies with all applicable municipal, provincial and federal legislation to the best of its ability.
Hazard Identification Program
GS Construction built a positive Safety Culture that starts from the top, because ultimately, employees follow behavior modeled by senior leadership. We actively encourage all team members to participate in hazard identification and provide suggestions for enhancing our management system.
Every month, we choose a crew whose members made the biggest impact in improving their Safety environment and hazard identification.
In addition to reducing the risk of accidents, a strong safety culture can also improve morale and productivity. When employees feel safe and supported in their work environment, they are more likely to be engaged and motivated. This can lead to increased productivity and a more positive work culture overall.
Employee Training
All our workers are required to have specific training based on their position. If such training is not already obtained, it will be provided and updated as required.
We hold Trench Rescue Training at our custom-made trench at the start of every season with Pro Rescue Services. This is completed by all workers in the field, the safety team, and the Superintendents.
