Spruce Grove Wet Weather Storage Facility

As the general contractor, GS Construction worked closely with a horizontal directional drilling subcontractor to install 1,450 lineal meters of 450mm diameter HDPE DR11 pipe along Range Road 272 for the Alberta Capital Region Wastewater Commission to provide better control of the water levels in a series of lagoons. A three-structure pump station that included an Air Release manhole, a concrete valve chamber, and a pre-packaged fiberglass lift station was installed and tied into the new 450mm HDPE force main was installed by GS after the directional drilling was completed. A series of existing interconnecting pipes between the lagoons were removed and new 1050mm diameter concrete interconnections were installed to allow for better control of water levels. Electrical and mechanical subcontractors were brought in to program and commission the new pump station following the completion of the underground work, as well as a surface subcontractor who improved the existing access road leading to the pump station location.
